The number of visitors decreased by 83% year-on-year to 988,000. Prague especially has experienced a drastic drop of nearly 94%.
According to the Czech Statistical Office, the number of tourists from abroad has dropped the most - 96% year-on-year. The number of Czech visitors fell by about two thirds.
However, the state agency CzechTourism has said that tourist figures would go up in the main summer season. Right now, some places even report record numbers of guests from the Czech republic. Prague and the Karlovy Vary region remain the most affected by the decline in the number of (mainly foreign) visitors.
