Due to the worsened epidemiological situation and the related measures, the number of passengers on trains and buses continues to decrease.
Right now, the demand is 40% lower than normal. Therefore, the Czech national railway operator České dráhy has decided to reduce its service. For example, starting this Wednesday, several regular Pendolino connections on the Prague-Ostrava route will stop running.
Other carriers also report fewer passengers. Leo Express has already canceled some train connections. According to Regiojet, the number of its passengers has mainly decreased in interstate travel - due to the restrictions on travel to some neighbouring countries. Bus operator Arriva reports fewer commuters in several areas, mainly because of school closures.
Still, the passenger numbers are higher than during the corona-crisis in the spring - when the demand fell by as much as 90%.
