Covid update


Tuesday's increase in the number of Covid-19 cases in the Czech Republic was the highest since the beginning of the epidemic in the country in March. 17,278 people were tested positive. However, the anti-epidemic PES risk score has dropped to 86 points, remaining in the worst fifth grade. From today, the index is calculated according to the new methodology, we wrote about it HERE.


Snow in Czechia



Drivers should be particularly careful today, as traffic in part of the Czech Republic has been complicated by snowfall. There have been ten accidents only in the Vysočina region since the morning, in which one person was injured. Other regions like South Bohemian, South Moravian, Liberecký, Zlínský and others have been affected.


Three Kings' day


Today is the feast of the Three Kings - Kaspar, Melichar and Baltazar, which ends the Christmas season. On the contrary, for Orthodox Christians, Christmas is just beginning. Usually, Three Kings parades take place in the Czech Republic at the beginning of January, but this year they will not happen due to coronavirus restrictions. Traditional collections will take place online. Today, there is also a rule that Christmas decorations must be removed for the Three Kings evening.




Czech Film Critics' Awards have presented nominations


Historical dramas The Landscape in the Shadow and The Charlatan have recieved five nominations for the Czech Film Critics' Awards. The film In the Network was the first documentary ever to become one of the nominees for the best film. 18 films have a chance to succeed in ten categories, out of 40 judged by the critics. The organizers announced the nominations for one of the most important domestic film awards in a press release today. The organizers will publish the winners and the results on the 6th of February at the Archa Theater in Prague.
